For 20 years, Paul Josephs has been leading “Your Song,” workshops with high school, middle school students and adults throughout New York City. This innovative program provides students with the opportunity to express their true nature and create professional-quality music from start to finish. Whether conducted in person or online, Your Song fosters a safe and creative community where students collaborate with their peers to bring their artistic visions to life.
At the heart of Your Song is the theme of connecting students to their immediate environment and each other through the creation of original words and music. By utilizing sounds from their surroundings as the foundation of their compositions, students are encouraged to explore their creativity and express themselves authentically.
Through hands-on experience, Your Song offers students a comprehensive understanding of the technical processes involved in music production. From conception to completion, students are guided through every step of the production process, culminating in the creation of professionally mixed and mastered tracks featuring their own production, composition, and voices.
Upon completion of the course, students receive a high-quality sound recording of their original work, along with a personalized MetroSonics diploma and certificate of completion. More importantly, they leave with a profound sense of accomplishment and capability, having gained the skills and confidence to create music to the highest professional standards.
